Transit options Car: Strongly recommended — most visitors drive to explore the island. Roads to/from Princeville are two-lane coastal highways (Kuhio Highway/Hwy 56). Parking is generally available at local beaches, parks and the resort. Rideshare / taxi: Available on Kaua‘i but can be limited overnight and for large vehicles; expect higher fares for the ~45–55 minute trip from the airport. Advance shuttle/private transfer bookings are common. Public bus: The Kaua‘i Bus Route 500 serves Princeville/Princeville Shopping Center on a regular schedule to/from Līhu‘e; useful for budget travelers but less flexible than a car. Biking / walking: Short-distance walking within Princeville and to nearby lookouts is practical; beaches may require a short drive. No islandwide train service.
