Getting around: Driving is the most convenient — on Honoapiʻilani Highway (HI-30) for local and West Maui travel. Rideshare (Uber/Lyft), local taxis and private shuttles serve resorts. County of Maui bus service connects Lahaina/Kāʻanapali to Kahului (Route 35/29 and others) but trips are long and schedules infrequent; shared airport shuttles (e.g., SpeediShuttle/Maui Shuttle) are widely used for transfers. Walking and short local trips are easy within Kāʻanapali resort area; bicycle rentals are available for short-distance beach/boardwalk travel. Inter-island travel requires plane; there is no commuter rail on Maui.
